FAQ
Bug Bam Natural Mosquito Repellent Products

• How does Bug Bam work?
Bug Bam products work by emitting an ‘aura’ of all natural, plant-based essential oils. This scent masks the odors we humans emit that attract insects effectively making you smell like a plant! how it works >>.

• Is Bug Bam safe?
In short, yes. Bug Bam products use only EPA and FDA GRAS approved ingredients and materials. What this means is that our products are considered non-toxic and ‘food-grade’. Bug Bam has also been tested ‘non-irritant’ to the eyes and skin. Our products release a strong (but pleasant) scent which is used to keep insects at bay. If you have severe allergies to the fragrance of essential oils, consult your MD first.

• How long does Bug Bam last?
Bug Bam products will work as long as the scent continues to be strong. In most cases this will be up to 100 hours. The warmer the weather, the shorter the lifespan and the cooler the weather the longer the lifespan. Storing the product in its re-sealable pack when not in use will extend the lifespan. The shelf life is 2 years if stored in a cool, dry place.

• Will Bug Bam work for me?
Like any other repellent on the market, Bug Bam will work for 95% of users. This is the industry statistic for repellents (even those with DEET). The 5% accounts for people who have a body chemistry that makes them irresistible to bugs no matter what repellent they try.

• What if Bug Bam DOES work for me, but the Mosquitoes are particularly bad at times?
If you happen to be in an area that often has a heavy mosquito presence, try using 2 x wristbands  or 2 x Grids instead of one. This generally does the trick.

• How do I recycle my used Bug Bam product?
Bug Bam has an incentive-driven recycling program specifically designed to encourage our customers to return their used products back to us. global recycling program >>.

• A bit about Mosquitoes.
Mosquitoes are insects which make up the family Culicidae. They have a pair of scaled wings, a pair of halteres, a slender body, and long legs. The females of most mosquito species suck blood from other animals, which has made them the most deadly disease vectors known to man, killing millions of people over thousands of years and continuing to kill millions per year by the spread of diseases.

Length varies but is rarely greater than 16 mm (0.6 inch), and weight up to 2.5 mg (0.04 grain). A mosquito can fly for 1 to 4 hours continuously at up to 1–2 km/h travelling up to 10 km in a night. Most species are nocturnal or crepuscular (dawn or evening) feeders. During the heat of the day most mosquitoes rest in a cool place and wait for the evenings. They may still bite if disturbed.
